Safety Shoutout
This month's Safety Shoutout goes to Drs. Irina and Alexander Agoulnik from the Hebert Wertheim College of Medicine! They have been part of the FIU faculty for many years focusing their research on genetic studies of the relaxin family peptides in various body systems in various stages cell cycles of normal and diseased cells, as well as androgen receptor signaling in cancer research of the endocrine kind. The Agoulniks’ lab has always been up to standard in regard to their QA/QC standards and laboratory management, exhibiting industry-like conditions of research. They have authored research papers in the field and cited numerously by others. Their research has been supported numerous times by partners like the NIH and pharmaceutical industry companies that are looking for novel drug and therapy development. In addition, the many students that have had the opportunity to work in Agoulniks’ lab and follow their guide testify to high quality standards and protocol adherence that landed them jobs in leading institutions and companies. Manqi Zhang from Duke University says: “I am grateful for being your graduate student and working in your lab!
